WELCOME TO TCRY
The Tri-City Railroad Company (“TCRY") is a privately owned Class 3 shortline railroad. TCRY was founded by Randolph Peterson in 1999 and is still owned by the Peterson family today.
TCRY operates and maintains the rail line commonly known as the Southern Connection in Richland, Washington. The Southern Connection was constructed over 50 years ago as a link to the rail lines within the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. The Port of Benton received the Southern Connection through an indenture from the Department of Energy in 1998. TCRY operates under a long term lease agreement with the Port of Benton (POB).
We transload, truck, fabricate, repair, construct and maintain track, consult for railroad customers, provide storage opportunities and offer industrial property to customers for their use that create local jobs and stimulate economic development.
TCRY offers daily train service to customers who ship by rail. We are proud to have been serving the local community for over 20 years.
Prior to TCRY, the Petersons owned Livingston Rebuild Center in Livingston, Montana and expanded the company to Richland, Washington. In addition to the Port of Benton line, TCRY also maintains an interest in other railroad properties.
