Tri-City Railroad to Construct New Rail Spur
Richland, WA -- September 24, 2010 – Tri-City & Olympia Railroad (TCRY) and its development affiliate, 10 North Washington Ave., LLC (10NWA) today announced they will begin construction of a rail spur into the Perma-Fix Northwest Richland Facility (PFNW) located in Richland, WA. The Spur will be constructed across land owned by 10NWA with rail service provided by TCRY. The PFNW Facility is a radioactive waste treatment facility that supports clean-up of the U.S. Department of Energy Hanford Site, nuclear power utilities, national laboratories, and research facilities. The rail spur will allow movement of radioactive wastes into the PFNW by rail, thus reducing truck traffic congestion in the Tri-Cities area, and minimizing risk to the local community for movement of these wastes. Randolph V. Peterson, TCRY Manager, stated that “TCRY is pleased to be able to construct the rail spur and to provide rail service to PFNW on the City of Richland’s Horn Rapids Spur. We believe that this project will enhance local business as well as increase the safety of PFNW’s movement of radioactive waste. TCRY and 10NWA have worked, and will continue to work, closely with PFNW in this effort. TCRY and 10NWA continue their efforts to develop additional and enhanced business opportunities and economic growth in our community.” For more Information contact: Rydel Peterson, Vice President Tri-City & Olympia Railroad 509-371-8313 ext 312 www.tcry.com rydel@tcry.com
