Union Pacific Selects Fritz as President and COO February 10th, 2014 Union Pacific Corporation has announced the appointment of Lance M. Fritz as president and chief operating officer of Union Pacific Railroad. He will report to Jack Koraleski, chief executive officer of the railroad and president and CEO of Union Pacific Corporation. Cameron A. Scott will succeed Fritz as executive vice president – operations. The moves are effective immediately. Jim R. Young, former president and COO, has retired but will continue to serve as Union Pacific Corporation’s chairman of the board of directors, a non-executive role. “Our entire management team is focused on safely providing great service to our customers while providing strong financial results to our shareholders,” said Koraleski. “These appointments reinforce this commitment and I am looking forward to our continued success in 2014 and beyond.” In 2000, Fritz started working for Union Pacific as vice president and general manager of the energy group. He was named regional vice president – operations in 2006, first for the northern region and then the southern region. He served as vice president of labor relations and vice president – operations. He was named executive vice president – operations in 2010. Fritz formerly worked for Fiskars, Inc., Cooper Industries, and General Electric. He graduated from Bucknell University and attended Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University where he earned a master’s degree in management. He serves on several industry boards and committees, and is a board member of the United Way of the Midlands. Fritz served as program chair at the 2013 U.S. Senior Open and is a past board member of the Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska. Before his new position, Scott was vice president network planning and operations. He joined Union Pacific in 1991 and was regional vice president – operations for the western region. He graduated from Arizona State University and has an MBA from the University of Texas. Scott is chair of the 2014 American Heart Association’s Omaha-Council Bluffs Heart Walk.
